Uses
Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine that is used to remove allergy, o fever and common cold symptoms. These symptoms include rash, itching, water eyes, itching eyes / nose / throat, cough, nose bleeding and sneezing. It is also used for the prevention and treatment of nausea, vomiting and dizziness caused by motion sickness. Diphenhydramine can also be used to help you relax and sleep.
This drug works by blocking a certain natural substance (histamine) that makes your body during an allergy reaction. Its dryness on symptoms like water eyes and runny nose is due to blocking another natural substance created by your body (acetylcholine).
Cold and cold products are not shown safe or effective in children under 6 years of age. Therefore, do not use this product to treat cold symptoms in children younger than 6 years, unless specifically directed by the doctor. Some products (such as long-acting pills / capsules) are not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information about using your product safely.
These products do not reduce the length of the normal winter nor can cause serious side effects. To reduce the risk of serious side-effects, follow all the dosage instructions carefully. Do not use this product to bring a child to sleep. Do not cure other cough-and-cold medicines that may have the same or similar content (see also drug interaction section). Ask the doctor or pharmacist about other ways to cure cough and cold symptoms (like drinking enough liquids, using humidifier or drilling droplets / spray of saline nose).
How to Use Diphenhydramine HCL
Follow all the instructions on the product package. If your doctor has prescribed this medicine, then take it as a guideline. If you are unsure about any information, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Take a tablet, capsule, or liquid in the form of food with or without mouth. Measure the liquid forms of this drug by using a special measuring device / spoon. Do not use domestic spoon because you can not get the right dose. If you have a single-dose form of this medicine (like single-use whistles), then you do not need to measure the dose.
A fast dissolving tablet or bandage should be dissolved on the tongue and should be swallowed with water or without. Chewable pills should be chewed well before swallowing.
Dosage is based on the reaction of your age, medical condition and treatment. Various brands and forms of Diphenhydramineare available.
