A new invention of scientists will allow using a patch instead of a syringe

An international team of scientists has developed the latest patch with microneedles, which operate on the principle of snake fangs.

A microneedle patch contains hundreds of microscopic needles on its bottom. They are made from materials compatible with the human body and soluble in water. When the patch is pressed against the skin, the needles pass through its upper layer and then dissolve, allowing the medicine to enter the circulatory system.

The development team used in the invention the same method of passing the medicine that delivered poison in the fangs of a snake, reports hightech.fm . The medicine enters the needles through a network of channels, by lightly pressing the top of the patch, and then enters the capillary network.

Due to the small size of the needles, this procedure is completely painless. In addition, such a system carries less risk of infection than subcutaneous injections. The patches lose their properties at room temperature, which facilitates their storage and transportation.

This invention is quite new, so while the process of its production is complicated and financially expensive.
