Atacand

GENERIC NAME(S): Candesartan

Uses

Atacand or Candesartan is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Reducing hypertension helps prevent stroke, heart attack and kidney problems. Atacand is related to a class of drugs called angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs). It works by relaxing the blood vessels so that the blood flows more easily.
Atacand is also used to treat heart failure.
Due to the increased risk of side effects, this drug is not recommended for use in children under 1 year.

How To Use Atacand

If you start taking Atacand or Candesartan and get refills every time, before you are available from your pharmacist, please read the Patient Information Letter. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Directly take Atacand by mouth or by your doctor at the meal, usually daily or twice daily.
Dosage is based on your medical condition and treatment response. In children, dosage is also based on weight.
Use Atacand regularly to get the most benefit. To help you remember, take it every day at the same time. It is important to continue taking this medicine even if you feel OK. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick. For the treatment of hypertension, you can take up to 6 weeks before getting the full benefit of this medication.
Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it gets worse (such as your blood pressure readings are high or increased).

Side Effects

Precautions

Before taking Atacand or Candesartan, tell your doctor or pharmacist whether you are allergic to it; Or if you have any other allergens. This product may contain passive elements, which may cause allergic or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Missed Dose
